Cherished pastor discovered dead at a grisly crime scene, with police staying silent about the unusual case.

The tragic murder of an esteemed pastor in Arizona has left many puzzled.

On April 28, deputies from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence of William Schenemann, a 76-year-old known affectionately as “Rev. Bill.” He had faithfully led the New River Bible Chapel for over 25 years.

“Who does that? Why would someone hurt Bill?”

Upon arrival, officers found Schenemann’s lifeless body.

While details were scarce initially, authorities later confirmed that “foul play” was evident at the scene. Shortly after, the Maricopa County Clinic officially classified his death as a homicide, noting that he had been killed in his home.

Though investigators have not shared many specifics, a local news outlet reported that Schenemann was found in his bed with his arms outstretched and hands secured to the wall. There were significant injuries to his body, but the specifics remain undisclosed.

Questions about the motive and potential suspects linger. Police have remained tight-lipped, only indicating that this case involves a “specific and unique situation” without elaborating further.

Deputy Jinx from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office stated that the team is “actively working on cases,” but there are unique circumstances that prevent them from discussing certain details to maintain the integrity of the investigation.

For the community that Pastor Bill touched, the impact of his sudden passing is profound.

“Who could do this? It’s hard to comprehend,” said neighbor Eric Asher. “How could someone bring harm to him? It’s just unfathomable.”

Another neighbor, Mike Anders, expressed the general shock in the area. “We locked our doors last night—something we normally don’t do. It’s unsettling to think about what could have happened. Was it someone close to him?”

In a heartfelt statement, Schenemann’s family shared:

“Our dad had a remarkable impact on everyone he encountered. His love, guidance, and creativity were a gift to all. Words can hardly capture how much we will miss him.”

Apart from his role as a pastor, Schenemann also served in the Navy, including deployments to Vietnam.

The investigation into his murder is still active, and further updates are awaited.
