Chevy Chase not allowed to do ‘Community’ movie

They’re not very communal behind the scenes.

Joel McHale has confirmed whether Chevy Chase will appear in the movie ‘Community’.

Speaking to the Post about the Fox sitcom Animal Control, McHale said of Chase’s potential return to Community. I don’t think that will happen. I don’t think he would be interested if you asked him. ”

He added, “Obviously, his unceremonious exit in Season 4 pretty much meant it.”

McHale, 52, co-starred with Chevy Chase, 80, on “Community,” which aired on NBC for six seasons from 2009 to 2014. The show was about mismatched people at a community college.

In addition to McHale and Chase, Donald Glover (Atlanta), Alison Brie (GLOW), Ken Jeong (The Hangover), Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jim・Rush appeared.

McHale also opened up about the physical violence he used during a confrontation with Chase on a recent episode. Michael Rosenbaum’s “Inside of You” Podcast.

“It’s going to be a little controversial. … I got in trouble for hurting him once. I dislocated his shoulder,” McHale said.

In a 2023 interview on Marc Maron’s podcast “WTF,” Chase said he didn’t think “Community” was “funny enough.”

“I felt a little bit constrained. Everyone had their own thing. I thought they were all good songs, but they weren’t really shocking to me,” said the former “Saturday Night.”・Live,” the star said.

“My reaction to that was, ‘Well, we both felt the same way about your attitude and you didn’t need to be there,'” McHale told the podcast Inside of You. ” he said.

“He says, ‘I didn’t want to sit around the table with those people.’ And as Gillian says, ‘[The] The feeling is mutual.” This was not a prison sentence. We were not drafted into war,” McHale said.

“You were paid so much money and given free food all day that you could just walk away.”

Chase appeared on Community for four seasons, but was fired from the show in 2013 after he allegedly used a racial slur toward Glover during filming. This also came after a bitter conflict with its creator, Dan Harmon.

Glover, 40, also known as Childish Gambino, claimed Chase used the N-word during a rant about issues with his character.

“I remember apologizing to Donald after a particularly bad night with Chevy’s non-PC language, and Donald said, ‘I don’t care about that.'”

During an interview with washington post Later that year, Chase did not deny using the slur.

“I could have said that,” Chase told the outlet, but noted it would have been misunderstood. He also denied that he was a bigot, adding that he had been a fan of Glover all the time they worked together on “Community.”

“I do not think so [him returning] ” McHale told the Post about his upcoming film “Community.”

McHale also explained that the movie has not yet been shot.

“I know we’ve been saying a lot about it. But we have the budget. We’ll do it – we just have to pick a date and line up everyone. It’s going to happen. I was 50-50, less than 50-50. [about the chances of it happening] years ago. But now it’s a reality. So we just have to decide on a date. ”
