Chicago Alderman Angry After 'Purple-Haired' Anti-ICE Activists Overlook Murder of Hispanic Father and Son Outside Their Jewelry Store

Gunman Sought After Father and Son Killed in Chicago Jewelry Store Shooting

Authorities are currently on the lookout for the shooter responsible for the tragic deaths of a father and son outside a jewelry store in Chicago. City council members are expressing their frustration at pro-immigration protesters for failing to acknowledge the crime.

Raymond López, a councilman representing the 15th Ward, voiced his anger following the shooting of two Hispanic men who were killed in broad daylight. He criticized the media and pro-immigration activists for their silence over the violent incident while they protest against ICE’s actions in the city.

In a post on X, he questioned the apparent lack of concern from activists, asking, “Where are the purple-haired people now? Or political gadflies trying to catch the case? Or activists working hard to do the whipping?” His sentiments reflect a sense of betrayal within the community. “This is happening in our Latinx community and the people talking today have nothing to say!”

The victims, 63-year-old Faustino Alamo Dominguez and his 25-year-old son Luis Alamo, were shot after attempting to chase down a thief who had stolen a gold chain from their store, Angelo’s Jewelry, located on 26th Street. Witnesses noted that the robber entered the store around 5:50 p.m. on Saturday, brandishing a weapon and announcing the robbery. After grabbing some gold chains, he attempted to flee.

Footage captured the chaotic scene as the father and son pursued the robber down the street; moments later, gunfire erupted. Both victims sustained grave injuries, with Mr. Alamo being shot in the head and upper body, while his son was also struck before they were rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where they unfortunately succumbed to their wounds.

Chicago police reported that the assailant made his escape in a white SUV. Cook County Crime Stoppers has since announced a reward of $10,000 for any information leading to an arrest in this case.

Paul Rutherford, the executive director of Cook County Crime Stoppers, expressed the heavy toll this shooting has taken on the Little Village community, emphasizing the loss of two hardworking individuals in such a senseless act of violence.
