Head coach Andy Reid provided a less-than-ideal update on the third-year player on Wednesday, telling reporters that Pacheco underwent surgery just days after breaking his fibula in the final minutes of the Chiefs' 26-25 win. Cincinnati Bengals.

“He's been placed on injured reserve. He's having surgery today. We don't know when he'll be back,” Reid said.
“Whether that's this season or next season, we'll see. We'll see how he does here.”

Reid's update comes after reports that Pacheco did not have any ligament issues. NFL Network, His recovery could take six to eight weeks.
Pacheco, a member of the Chiefs' back-to-back Super Bowl winning teams, ran 45 yards for a touchdown in the season opener against Baltimore and then ran 90 yards and a score before being ejected from Sunday's game.

He left the stadium Sunday in a walking boot and on crutches, apparently injured after twisting his ankle on the first play of the final attacking possession.

In his place will be undrafted rookies Carson Steele and Samaje Perine.
The Chiefs also signed a veteran running back. Kareem Hunt Reid said he likely won't play this weekend against the Atlanta Falcons but could play soon.

“I want to see where he is, I want to see him work today,” Reid said Wednesday. “Once I see where he is, I'll be able to make a better decision.”
