“Any Sunday” is still a common refrain in the NFL, but games have expanded far beyond one day a week — just ask the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2024 schedule.

When the NFL schedule was released earlier this month, the Chiefs were scheduled to play games every day of the week throughout the year except Tuesdays.

How is that possible? The Chiefs play every primetime game, including Thursday Night Football and Monday Night Football, but they also play on Black Friday, a Saturday in Week 16, and let’s not forget Christmas Day, which falls on a Wednesday this year.

When asked by reporters about a seemingly odd schedule that has seen the Chiefs play 14 of their 17 games after 4:25 p.m., head coach Andy Reid had a message for the NFL.

“This is the first time anything like this has happened in my career, it’s unusual. You know what kind of team we are. We’re not concerned at all,” Reid said matter-of-factly on the Chiefs’ record.

“If they want, they can give us Tuesday and we’ll be OK there,” Reid said. “We’ll get through it and play wherever and whoever they want. We’re all for it.”

The Chiefs are definitely a must-watch football team as they try to do something no other NFL team has managed to do – win three consecutive Super Bowls.

Kansas City is scheduled to play eight solo games this season, including the league opener against the Baltimore Ravens on NBC on Sept. 5. The Chiefs will also be heavily shown on CBS, with the network airing a league-high eight games.

But Patrick Mahomes loves the bright lights of primetime games, and while he knows the schedule gets tougher every year because of it, the expectation to win remains the same.

“It feels like our schedule gets more and more packed every year,” Mahomes told reporters last week. “We’re just going to prepare for the week ahead. We know there are a lot of prime-time games and we’ve been good enough to play in those games.”

The Chiefs always get a lot of attention, and even with their ups and downs the spotlight never fades, but that’s the only way to go if you want to make NFL history.
