Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ Father Indicted on Drunk Driving Charge, Faces 10-Year Prison Sentence

Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl-winning quarterback, was charged Wednesday with drunken driving and faces 10 years in prison.

He was arrested on February 4 in Tyler, Texas and booked into the Smith County Jail. This is his third arrest for drunk driving.

The Chiefs star told reporters he was well aware that his father was in legal jeopardy, but didn’t want to say much about it.

“I don’t want to go into too much detail, but he’s performed well in all situations,” he said. “It’s a family matter. I’ll keep this to myself, that’s all I really want to say at this point.”

Mahomes Sr. played professional baseball for 11 seasons with teams including the New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and Pittsburgh Pirates.

He is a father of three. Patrick (28 years old), Jackson (23 years old) and his youngest daughter Zoe.
