Kansas City Chiefs rookie receiver Xavier Worthy knows it's his job at the end of the day, but he really enjoys playing with his team every week.
There's no way he wouldn't be happy when he starts his first season in the NFL 12-1. Not many newcomers have that luxury.
But the first-round pick quickly learned his calling: the role of the villain on a team aiming for three Super Bowl appearances.

Worthy, who broke the 40-yard dash record at the NFL Scouting Combine in April, said he hears outside noise every week, especially the noise of wanting the Chiefs to lose.
“I feel like everyone wants us to lose,” Worthy said after emphasizing how much he enjoyed the DICKS Holiday Shopping Sprint to impact kids in the Kansas City area this holiday season. he told FOX News Digital.
Alternative reality for the Chiefs: If the one-point deficit in 2024 had been reversed, Kansas City would have been in 2011.
“Each week it's a new excuse. First, the goalposts are helping us. Second, the referees are helping us. So we can't take breaks. It's great to be able to do that. It shows what everyone wants us to do.''We have a target on our backs to lose, so we have to keep working every week. ”
The Chiefs were a dynasty, and Worthy came in right after defeating the San Francisco 49ers in overtime to win back-to-back Vince Lombardi trophies.
Just ask what happens when other NFL dynasties come out on top. Fans will want to lift them up and eventually see them fall with a new winner crowned.
But Worthy cited reasons why some fans can't bear to watch the Chiefs rack up wins. Although they have had many close games this season, they have maintained a winning streak in games with a one-score difference.
The Chiefs have won the past 15 games decided by one point. Yes, last week Matthew Wright's shot from the left side hit the goal post, but it went through to beat the Los Angeles Chargers. Additionally, there were some controversial calls that ultimately went the Chiefs' way.
But he doesn't mind being the villain for the Chiefs. They've accepted it, and Worthy is just getting a taste of what Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and the team's other veterans have been feeling since last season.
“It gives us energy,” Worthy explained. “A lot of people say it's hate. 'Oh, people are always against us.' But no matter how we look at it, the world is watching us. . You're making the most of that opportunity with all eyes on you.”
Worthy is used to having a target on his back after playing for a big college program like the Texas Longhorns.
The Chiefs are the kings of the late game and what we learned from Week 14
But he mentioned the senior leaders who help guide the deal, especially Mahomes, who continues to build trust each week.
The proof is in the game tape, as Mahomes scrambles on fourth-and-6 to continue his team's drive to victory, throws a pass to Worthy with the game on the line, and he returns to the ball. We secured the ball and kept the drive alive.
He had been injured while playing, but the quarterback trusted him with the game on the line. In this case, some pain is worth it.
“I actually dislocated my finger on the same play,” he said. “Right after that I put it back on — you can see it in the video. But it's a huge thing to have that confidence from a quarterback in the NFL. Everybody wants to be that guy in the NFL. I feel like we're talking about, just being able to build trust and get day-to-day with the quarterback is huge.”
With a ninth consecutive AFC West title clinched with four games remaining, Worthy knows he'll be a rookie enjoying playoff football at the end of the regular season.
He also knows the goal is even bigger as the Chiefs aim to become the first team in history to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
If that means Kansas City has to be the villain, that's perfectly fine with Worthy, who is focused on being the team's hero when it's his turn to play.
The influence of penis on young people in KC
Worthy has had the pleasure of sharing the field with Mahomes, Kelce and many other Chiefs legends, but he can also make an impact on the Kansas City community just like they have.
That's exactly what happened at this year's DICK'S Holiday Shopping Sprint. There, two lucky winners, Tanisha and her 8-year-old son, AJ, and Molly from the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kansas City organized a $2,500 Holiday Wish. A list Worthy assembled in record-breaking time and personally brought to them.
“It was fun,” he said of the experience. “I've always wanted to give back to the community I'm in. It was so fun to see the reaction on the kids' faces. It brightened their day.”

Worth took photos, caught a few catches, and enjoyed the opportunity to make children and their families smile.
“DICK'S Sporting Goods is proud to be partnering with DICK'S Sporting Goods,” said Melissa Christian, vice president of global brand and category marketing for DICK'S Sporting Goods. “This was another way we could literally meet athletes where they are. By having Xavier Worthy, who is known for his speed, shop and deliver to your doorstep in record time. It was even more fun to do that with him. He was a great player and the perfect partner for this year's Holiday Shopping Sprint.”
