Chiefs squander late double-digit lead, but survive in walk-off fashion against Panthers

Sunday was supposed to be easy for the Kansas City Chiefs. That was something completely different.

In fact, they were in serious danger of an upset. Yet, they survived because they are the Chiefs.

After trailing by double digits late in the game, the Chiefs pulled ahead against the Carolina Panthers and won 30-27.

Kansas City led 20-9 at halftime, but still led by 11 points at the start of the fourth quarter. However, the Panthers remained tenacious on defense.

With less than two minutes remaining, Tuba Hubbard scored a touchdown to cut the deficit to two points, and after the Chiefs committed defensive pass interference on the two-point conversion, Hubbard again converted a handoff into the end zone. The score was tied at 1 point. :46 We're leaving.

But as we've learned time and time again, you never want to give the Chiefs time. They were soon in field goal range as Patrick Mahomes scrambled 34 yards. A few plays later, Spencer Schrader made a 31-yard field goal as time expired.

The Chiefs may have improved to 10-1, but they are definitely lucky to be in this position. Just two weeks ago, he blocked a potential game-winning field goal against the Denver Broncos.

They haven't played sharply yet again, but the reigning back-to-back champions continue to get the job done.

Mahomes went 27-for-37 for three touchdowns, and DeAndre Hopkins caught three touchdowns.

Kansas City will host the Las Vegas Raiders on Black Friday, and after losing both games last year, the Raiders won 27-20 earlier this season.
