A Republican lawmaker has released a new ad that shows a Chinese spy balloon being launched from the sky.
Rep. Mike Flood (R-Nebraska) is running for a second full term in the House of Representatives after winning his first victory in a 2022 special election to replace indicted Rep. Jeff Fortenberry.
of 30 second video clip used Rep. Flood's own comments to highlight his record as a China hawk, and highlighted the looming threat from China with a balloon emblazoned with the Chinese flag floating on the screen.

“China is our enemy, plain and simple. The Chinese Communist Party is hacking our computers, buying up land near military bases, and spying on our military right here in Nebraska,” Flood said in the ad. There is.
“That's why I'm fighting to keep Chinese technology out of cell towers, stop China from buying Nebraska farmland, and protect Americans from Chinese espionage and cyberattacks.”
Towards the end of the video, Flood promises to “do whatever it takes” to protect Nebraska while holding a pistol and blowing a balloon to pieces.

This happened when what appeared to be a Chinese reconnaissance balloon entered U.S. airspace, then flew so low that it could be seen with the naked eye over multiple states, before being shot down days later off the coast of South Carolina. It's a reminder.
Republicans used the incident as evidence to criticize President Biden for not being tough enough on China, claiming the surveillance equipment was sent by the Chinese military with little fear of U.S. retaliation.

This comes after a new swarm of unidentified drones was revealed over key military installations in Virginia, sparking alarm.
