“China supports all peace-focused efforts, including the recent consensus reached by the US and Russia, and it is possible for stakeholders to find sustainable and lasting solutions that take into account each other's concerns. I hope that I can,” the Wang said. The statement has been translated into English.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his Russian counterpart met in Saudi Arabia earlier this week. This is a noticeable change in US-Russia relations that ended the isolation policy imposed following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Both US and Russian authorities also recently concluded a meeting showing changes in bilateral relations, but there was no firm commitment to ending the war in Ukraine.

“It was positive, cheerful, constructive, and based on a solution-based way to ensure that everyone there was reaching the right outcome,” Middle Eastern envoy Steve Witkoff said before. “I couldn't imagine a better outcome after this session. It was very solid.”

In a statement from the King, the Foreign Minister said that “the call for peace negotiations has been growing recently, and the window of peace has been opened” regarding the war in Ukraine.

“The parties are inconsistent and there is no simple solution to complex problems, but dialogue is always better than conflict, peace talks are always better than war. China is as much a crisis as possible. We have always advocated for a quick and peaceful resolution,” Wang added.

China has provided support to Russia through its war with Ukraine, including commercial support for Moscow's military production. Relations between the two countries hinted at US-China ties during the Biden administration.
