China’s tech infiltration poses an urgent national security risk

The totalitarian regime cannot tolerate criticism, and China is no exception. The great Chinese Communist Party's firewall is not just a deliberate effort to restrict opposition from around the world, but rather to limit the information within its boundaries.

Currently, China has a new tool for suppression: Deepseek is an AI model built using US chips. Weak export controls under the Biden administration have allowed China to achieve a breakthrough in artificial intelligence that was once thought to be years apart.

Competition with China is not a game. It's time to stop gaining unfair advantages in Beijing through illegal means or simply by transferring the ground.

Like Tiktok, Deepseek is ready to become a propaganda tool for CCP. The model is already available Censored content It is considered a threat to “state power”; include Tiananmen Square, the revolution in Hong Kong's umbrellas, and even Pooh even mentions Winnie. This level of content control spreads beyond information to affect the mind – poses a direct and urgent threat to US national security.

The Chinese Communist Party has repeatedly used technology to target our interests. For years, Americans have been downloading Tiktok and are unaware that the app is acting as Chinese spyware. This malware collects and shares user data with CCP and tracks contacts, photos, search history, and even keystrokes. As a result, Beijing has access to a vast amount of American metadata. From a national security standpoint, this is surprising. The CCP currently holds data on military facilities, population centers and critical infrastructure. This is essentially a detailed map with the target marked.

What's even more troublesome is the cybersecurity risks discovered in Deepseek. an Epoch Times Investigation It turns out that DeepSeek stores user data on a China-based server. One company discovered that the AI model sends information to China Mobile, a state-run telecom giant. Individual analysis Cybersecurity company Wiz has revealed that Deepseek is suffering from a major data breaches and has released chat history, secret keys and other sensitive information. These security failures reveal that China is unreliable with our advanced technology.

The threat doesn't stop there. Bytedance, Tiktok's CCP-related parent company, uses the app to promote parental propaganda while suppressing its Anti-CCP content. a Rutgers University Research Tiktok has confirmed that it will amplify content that is beneficial to CCP while downranking videos that contradict its agenda. Another CCP-related app, Renote, has gained traction in the US and will likely follow the same pattern. This psychological war must end. The United States cannot allow Beijing to continue exploiting American users through predatory technology.

That's why China's Technology Transfer Management Act was introduced. This prevents Chinese military from acquiring sensitive US technology and intellectual property through export control. My bill would also sanction foreign companies that banned US technology on the PRC.

We cannot continue to allow our most important foreign enemies to psychologically manipulate Americans or collect most of their sensitive, personal information. My bill has put in place guardrails to prevent CCPs from gaining increasingly advanced US technology and developing software like the Deepseek R1.

The Biden Harris administration has not done enough to protect America's most sensitive technology. Because CCP knows that, US technology in the hands of CCPs can be weaponized against us. We must ensure and ensure that Americans, not CCPs, will enjoy their benefits.

Competition with China is not a game. It's time to stop gaining unfair advantages in Beijing through illegal means or simply by transferring the ground. Decisive action is only needed now to protect leadership in technological innovation. Not only for today, but for future generations.
