Chip Roy Responds to Democrats’ War Declaration
On Wednesday, Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) joined “The Ingraham Angle” on FOX News to address remarks made by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), who labeled the current situation as an “era of maximum war” and urged pressure on the Republican Party across all states.
Roy, currently a candidate for Texas attorney general, interpreted Jeffries’ comments as evidence that Democrats are “at war” with the American populace.
“Congressman, the Democrats claim you initiated this conflict,” host Laura Ingraham pointed out. “They believe your actions in Texas were the catalyst. How do you respond?”
Roy replied, “First, I appreciate you highlighting what Hakeem Jeffries stated today. It’s effectively an admission that they see themselves at war with us, with the American people. You can’t hope to win a conflict you refuse to acknowledge exists. The Republican Party must start realizing this. Texas identified this issue long ago, recognizing that California’s actions are quite extraordinary. They reasoned that a solidly Republican Texas should send more GOP members to Washington, as Illinois lacks any Republican representation for all of New England.”
He continued, “Regarding Virginia, we observed discrepancies in districts that didn’t align with what we usually see. Essentially, Virginia is saying that a million individuals in Arlington and Alexandria represent two-thirds of the entire Commonwealth. If the Virginia Supreme Court doesn’t act as I expect, we’ll face significant challenges. Laura, there’s an obligation to adhere to the Virginia Constitution—let’s follow the law and correct this. The lower court’s ruling was sound. The Virginia Supreme Court has had the chance to consider arguments from our shared acquaintance, former Virginia Congressman Ken Cuccinelli. Essentially, it contravenes several constitutional principles, including overlooking intervening elections and the narrow focus of the budget at hand. There are also numerous other concerns, particularly regarding the referendum’s language.”
“So, let’s hope the court makes the right decision, and Republicans must rise to the occasion. John Thune is on point—let’s ensure the SAVE AMERICA Act comes to fruition,” Roy concluded. “We must deliver results without hesitation. If we take charge and work effectively with the president, victory is within reach this November.”
