Chris Harrison Returns with New Dating Series
Chris Harrison is making his way back into the dating scene, bringing along the signature roses we associate with him.
The former host of “The Bachelor” is set to return to the relationship reality TV genre with a new show titled “Chris Harrison’s The Vow.” It will debut on November 11 on Fox Nation, consisting of six episodes.
A teaser for the series features a man adjusting his suit, ultimately revealing that it’s Harrison, who playfully acknowledges his previous role. At one point, he quips, “Expecting someone else?” accompanied by the tagline: “Roses. Faith. True love lasts forever.”
In “The Vow,” which will air its initial two episodes on November 11 before transitioning to a weekly release every Wednesday until the season finale on December 9, viewers will follow 30-year-old bachelor Jace Cates as he navigates dating ten women in search of marriage and long-term commitment.
According to Fox Nation, the show will emphasize themes such as faith, family, communication, and shared values while putting contestants through various dates and “real-world compatibility challenges.”
Harrison expressed his excitement about returning to help people find love, claiming that the team has crafted “the most authentic dating show on television today.” His return marks a significant moment, bringing him back into the realm that made him a well-known figure in reality TV—over five years after leaving the ABC “Bachelor” franchise under tumultuous circumstances.
His departure from “The Bachelor” happened in February 2021 after a controversial interview with former bachelorette Rachel Lindsay, during which he defended contestant Rachael Kirkconnell amidst backlash related to her past. He sought to apply “grace” in understanding, criticized the “woke police,” and questioned the standards of judgment applied to the photos in question.
This sparked significant controversy, especially since the franchise was under pressure for increasing diversity, having just cast its first black bachelor, Matt James. Harrison later apologized and acknowledged his missteps, stating, “By excusing historical racism, I defended it.” Consequently, he stepped down temporarily and eventually announced his permanent exit in June 2021, expressing enthusiasm for new beginnings.
Reports later suggested that his exit package totaled millions, yet the specific amount was never confirmed. ABC subsequently appointed Jesse Palmer as the main host of the franchise.
Since then, Harrison has ventured into podcasting in 2023 and disclosed plans for TV projects with Dr. Phil McGraw’s Merit Street Media.
Fox Nation President Lauren Petterson noted that he significantly influenced reality dating television, framing the new series as a “fresh, thoughtful take” centered on authentic connections.
Harrison mentioned that the show drew inspiration from what he perceives as a “faith-driven renaissance” in America. He commented on how dating seems tougher than ever for many, and posed the fundamental question: “Can genuine, lasting love still be found in the modern world?”
Additionally, former “Bachelor” couple Sean and Catherine Lowe will appear during the season to provide insights on building enduring relationships.
The show is produced in collaboration with Lionsgate Alternative Television, with Harrison and his partner, Lauren Zima, serving as executive producers.
