Several pastors responded after the United States conducted strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities on Saturday. President Donald Trump addressed the nation, confirming that three B-12 Tomahawk missiles were launched from a US submarine.
Greg Laurie, the founder of Harvest Christian Fellowship, suggested that the attack could be seen more as a “premonition” rather than a fulfillment of biblical prophecy. “Is this fulfillment of biblical prophecy? I think it’s probably more of a foresight than a fulfillment. Let me explain,” he stated. He pointed out that Persia will eventually march against Israel, regardless of the identity of Magog. The ongoing hostility between Iran and Israel remains a significant concern for many.
Despite the political turmoil, Laurie encouraged Christians to pray for protection over both the United States and Israel. “I pray they will find a certain solution soon and that God will bless our president with wisdom,” he added.
Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan’s Purse, also called for prayers for the nation and its leaders, noting the continuing missile threats from Iran. “Israel is under attack, and President Trump has highlighted Iran’s long-standing hostility towards both America and Israel. While power may bring a measure of peace, we must remember that God is our true strength,” he said.
In a collective statement, Pastor Samuel Rodriguez of New Season Church in California emphasized the importance of prayer during these challenging times. He expressed gratitude to Trump for concluding his national address with a prayer for divine protection.
Rodriguez remarked, “We need to pray for our leaders to have clarity and wisdom, and for the innocent families in Iran, Israel, and the wider region. Ultimately, our hope lies in peace in the Middle East.” He urged Christians to unite during these tumultuous moments.
On Monday, Trump announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, coinciding with missile attacks launched by Iran. However, he later condemned further Iranian missile attacks in Israel after the ceasefire was initiated. It appears Israel has also scaled back its retaliatory strikes following Trump’s request.
During a briefing, Trump remarked on the ongoing conflict. “There are two countries that have been fighting for so long that I’m not sure what they’re even doing anymore,” he noted.
