Another lost lead, another bad update.
Fresh off a 27-24 loss to the winless Los Angeles Rams over the weekend San Francisco 49ers Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that star running back Christian McCaffrey is consulting with a specialist in Germany regarding his lingering Achilles injury.
“He's going to see a specialist who may be able to help with the Achilles pain,” Shanahan told reporters. “I expect he'll get that treatment over the next few days and hopefully that will help.”

This update is McCaffrey placed on injured list He was sidelined with Achilles tendinitis on Sept. 14. He was injured early in training camp and missed four weeks of practice before returning on a limited basis.
He is the Niners' season opener. New York Jets, But the latest update raises further questions about whether McCaffrey will be able to play when he is cleared to return in Week 6.
The update on McCaffrey's injury isn't the only bad news the 49ers are dealing with this week.

Star defensive tackle Javon Hargrave is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a partially torn triceps.
“This is big,” Shanahan said of Hargrave's injury. “I thought he had his best game yesterday. I thought he was a big factor and really affected the quarterback in that game. It's a big loss. He's one of the best players on our team. He was definitely trending in the right direction and was going to have a great year.”
Injuries to San Francisco's top players have had a visible impact on the start of the season.

Rams The 49ers overcame a double-digit deficit on Sunday to earn their first win of the season. They trailed by 14 in the second half and by double digits midway through the second quarter before Matthew Stafford scored four straight points to rally.
The loss marked Shanahan's fifth time in either the regular season or playoffs that the team has surrendered a double-digit fourth-quarter lead since taking over in 2017.
