The obvious facts have been officially announced. On Thursday night, Christian McCaffrey and Myles Garrett were named Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.
The San Francisco 49ers running back beat Tyreek Hill, CeeDee Lamb, Dak Prescott and likely MVP Lamar Jackson to win his first OPOY. This will be Garrett’s first DPOY as he defeated Daron Brand, Maxx Crosby, TJ Watt, and Micah Parsons.
McCaffrey led the NFL in rushing yards with 1,459, the closest being Derrick Henry with 1,167. His 2,023 scrimmage yards also led the NFL, and his 21 total touchdowns tied him with Raheem Mostert for the most in the league.

McCaffrey scored at least one touchdown in 13 of the 16 games he played.
The 49ers created a new position last season by acquiring McCaffrey in a trade from the Carolina Panthers. He totaled 31 touchdowns in 27 games as a Niner.
Of course, he has other hardware in mind as he faces the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 15 this Sunday.

As for Garrett, the Cleveland Browns defensive end was named first-team All-Pro for the third time in the last four seasons and lived up to expectations of being the No. 1 pick.
Garrett recorded 14.0 sacks and earned his fifth Pro Bowl appearance. He finished fifth in DPOY voting last year.
