Chuck Todd Critiques Media’s Focus on Hunter Biden

Former NBC News anchor Chuck Todd has spoken out against the media’s decision to highlight Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, suggesting his presence could be harmful both personally and politically for the Democrats.

As the Democratic Party grapples with its future following the 2024 election loss, there seems to be a general consensus: Joe Biden might need to step back from the public eye.

Hunter Biden recently gained attention after appearing on Andrew Callahan’s “Channel 5” podcast and sharing thoughts on episodes of former DNC chair Jaime Harrison’s “At Our Table” podcast.

On his own podcast, Todd firmly stated that he would never invite Hunter Biden onto his show. He pointed out, “He’s not a candidate. He didn’t run for office. What he says to defend his father? I’m not so sure it holds water, but that doesn’t matter—he’s a son standing up for his dad.” He emphasized his frustration with those who choose to platform Hunter, asserting that it seems more about creating entertainment than substance.

Todd elaborated, “Booking Hunter Biden is a choice. It suggests you’re more interested in the spectacle than the content. And honestly, I don’t think this benefits Hunter or even Joe Biden. It doesn’t serve the Democrats well either. It’s baffling that a former DNC Chair would start a podcast and feature Hunter Biden.”

“That’s a deliberate decision,” he continued. “If you choose to bring Hunter on, you know what you’re getting into. There’s quite a bit at play there.”

He also shared his disapproval of politicians using media appearances for personal therapy, despite being an advocate for mental health support. “It’s troubling when politicians exploit media, campaigns, and voters like that,” Todd expressed.

Reflecting on the Biden family’s past, Todd said, “I was critical of Joe Biden’s desire to run originally. Hunter’s actions after the election show the strain their family was under. Running for president can inflict serious damage on a candidate’s family.”

After experiencing significant losses, including his first wife and daughter in a tragic accident and his son Beau in 2015, Todd suggested Biden hadn’t fully processed his grief before launching his presidential campaign in 2020.

In earlier times, Todd viewed the Bidens as emblematic of a family effectively juggling public service and personal challenges. “But in reality, they were a family in deep distress,” he noted.

Fox News Digital attempted to reach out to the “Channel 5” podcast, the “At Our Table” podcast, and representatives for Joe and Hunter Biden, but did not receive a response in time.
