Cincinnati police seeking another suspect in mob attack; videos seem to show him hitting a white man right after a slap.

Cincinnati police are pursuing leads on a suspected mob attack. According to reports, he’s believed to be the first person who pursued a white man after he slapped a black man just prior to a violent incident that took place late last month.

Authorities released a photo of the suspect and noted that the Central Business Section is investigating felony assault incidents that occurred on 4th Avenue and ELM on July 26, 2025. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Blank.

The suspect is pictured wearing a dark bucket hat with white lettering, a short-sleeve white shirt featuring black words and a colorful design, paired with black shorts and red-and-white sneakers.

In a mobile phone video, the suspect can be seen from behind as he stands next to the black man who was slapped by the white man. Following the slap, the individual, whose shirt has “lovely” on it, seems to start punching the white man.

Another video shows a front angle of the incident. From this viewpoint, the suspect’s retaliation appears minimal, as his punches seem ineffective and he is soon pulled away. Conversely, others involved in the incident appear to land more substantial blows.

A third video, identified as the main attack clip, shows the suspect chasing down the white man and delivering a thorough beating. However, in this particular footage, the suspect doesn’t appear to engage physically with anyone, including the man who he had followed after the slap.

The Cincinnati police did not respond immediately to inquiries regarding the suspect or whether charges would be brought against the white man who initiated the slap.

Local black leaders claim that the judicial proceedings related to this case have not been equitable towards the black community, urging authorities to press charges against the white man shown slapping the black man before the mob violence erupted.

Pastor Damon Lynch recently posed a pivotal question during a gathering at New Prospect Baptist Church: “Who incited the riot? If it was triggered by a slap, then who is responsible for the riot?”

Cincinnati’s Mayor Aftab Pureval stated that any form of violence, including slapping, should merit accountability, but he refrained from interfering with the investigation process.

In response to the situation, host Jason Whitlock, who has been vocal about the mob incident, criticized the racial undertones in the reactions from Cincinnati’s black leaders.

One of the clips featured Whitlock pointing out the absurdity of justifying violence in response to a slap, regardless of race. He pondered whether the same rationale would apply if a black person hit another black person or if a black gang member shot someone of the same race.

Hamilton County Chief Prosecutor Kip Guinan acknowledged that slurs were noticeable in some of the videos depicting the mob attack, but he also emphasized that they were articulated amidst a brutal assault.

To date, seven individuals have faced charges in connection with the mob attack, with six of them confronting multiple counts that could lead to almost 30 years of imprisonment if convicted. Recently, the two female suspects received significant bond reductions from a judge.

The latest suspect, Gregory Wright, age 32, was charged with aggravated rioting and robbery, having been alleged to forcibly take a necklace from the victim during the chaotic event. He has pleaded not guilty during his initial court appearance and remains in custody.
