Climate Change Hardliner Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras’ Tour Carbon Emissions Nearly Nine Times Average American’s Annual Footprint

Taylor Swift once called global warming a “horrible situation.” But apparently it wasn’t scary enough to prevent her from flying on a private jet during her recent “Ellas” tour.

Taylor Swift’s use of a private jet during the Americas portion of her Ellas tour resulted in 139 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, according to a new study. That’s nearly nine times the average American’s annual emissions of 16 tons.

Research by online carbon accounting platform Greenly. report According to Newsweek magazine, the North American leg of Swift’s tour lasted nearly a year and is estimated to have generated 77.5 tons of weight over nearly 113 flight hours.

For her South American legs, it is estimated that she shed 61.6 tons of weight. As a result, Swift emitted an estimated 139 tons of her CO2e into the atmosphere.

This does not include the Asian and European legs of her tour.

As Breitbart News reported, Swift sold her gas-guzzling private jet for $40 million a few months ago amid threats to sue a college student who was tracking its emissions. The singer kept her own larger plane.

Swift sold the Dassault Falcon 900LX to Missouri-based auto insurance company Car Shield on January 30th.
