Hostin Expresses Disappointment in Jill Biden’s Support for Joe’s Reelection
On Friday’s episode of “The View,” co-host Sunny Hostin voiced her disappointment with former First Lady Jill Biden, questioning whether President Joe Biden has truly acknowledged his declining abilities.
Hostin remarked, “I feel a bit let down that she’s been living with him and must have noticed some changes. I mean, she mentioned, ‘I haven’t seen him like that,’ but really, how long can she ignore these signs?”
Joy Behar, another co-host, inquired if it was Jill’s duty to express her feelings about Joe’s second-term candidacy. Hostin replied, “Honestly, I think she should have had a private discussion with him—something like, ‘Do you really think it’s the right time to run again?’ He did say he would only serve one term.”
Accusations of ‘Elder Abuse’
In a recent column, a Washington Post writer suggested that Jill Biden’s influence was akin to “elder abuse,” insinuating that she might be pushing her husband to seek reelection despite concerns over his fitness.
During an upcoming CBS News interview with Rita Braver, to air in full on Sunday, Jill Biden responded to questions about Joe’s decline, claiming she didn’t see any signs.
Joe Biden elaborated, “No, he was the same—still had that essence, but yeah, he’s slowing down. This job is intense; it takes a toll.”
In the same session, Jill expressed her fears during the disastrous 2024 debate, where she worried he might have suffered a stroke. “I had a moment of sheer panic. I thought, ‘Oh my God, he’s having a stroke,’” she recalled.
Co-host Reactions
Co-host Sarah Haines mirrored Hostin’s sentiments, stating, “Listening to Jill, I wonder if my first thought would be, ‘You’ve done your time. You’ve served your purpose.’” Haines also expressed that if Jill truly believed Joe had a health scare, she should have stepped in more decisively.
Haines noted that the Democrats could have approached Biden’s withdrawal differently, mentioning a lack of transparency. “The secrecy was a problem; it’s like they confirmed, ‘No, we weren’t being honest.’”
After the June debate, many on “The View” hinted that it could be time for Biden to step aside. Hostin acknowledged, “He probably has to go.”
Reflecting on Biden’s age, Griffin remarked, “We’ve been worried about this for a while, and he performed worse than expected.”
Later, following Biden’s exit from the race, Whoopi Goldberg criticized Democrats for their pressure tactics. She noted how the narrative seemed to imply, “If you’re older, we don’t think you can handle it.”
The Bidens Defending Their Choices
The Bidens appeared on “The View” in May 2025, where Jill defended Joe against critical health reports. Joe dismissed the claims, stating, “There’s nothing backing those assertions. We left behind a chaotic situation.”
As Jill interjected, she pointed out to co-host Alyssa Farrah Griffin that the critics weren’t present in the White House to witness Joe’s hard work. “He would be up working late, while I’d already be in bed. It was relentless,” she added, highlighting his dedication.
