The U.S. Coast Guard responded to a capsized vessel near Sitka, Alaska, Tuesday evening and found two people dead and rescued three others.
An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter flight crew from Sitka Air Base arrived at the scene near Chichagof Island at 5:15 p.m. local time and pulled the three people from the water around 5:50 p.m., according to a statement from the coast. Rescued. guard.
They were then transported to the Sitka Airport, where they received medical treatment.
The two missing men were found dead in their cabins the next day, said Coast Guard Capt. Darwin Jensen, commander of the Southeast Alaska District.

Two people remained missing by Wednesday afternoon. The Sitka Fire Department and Alaska Wildlife Conservation Corps then deployed an unmanned underwater drone to search the vessel and eventually locate the vessel.

The Coast Guard said efforts to recover the deceased would begin once conditions at the scene improved.
According to the Japan Coast Guard, the water temperature at the time of the accident was approximately 44 degrees Celsius, and the air temperature was 31 degrees Celsius. Early weather conditions included winds of 8 to 10 knots and wave heights of 9 feet.
