Officials opened Bourbon Street several hours before Thursday's game, and Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry was also in attendance.

“Security will be tight,” Landry said during an appearance on “Fox & Friends.” “We all feel confident in hosting this game. The Superdome is completely safe. Again, the FBI continues to pour resources into our state.”

Many people, including Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman, responded to this senseless act of violence and told the team what happened.

“The first part of the meeting was to mourn and pray for our country,” he said during an appearance on ESPN.
