Colombian President Gustavo Petro urged unwritten Colombians to return home to return home.
“I ask Colombians who have not been documented in the United States to quit their job immediately and return to Colombia as soon as possible,” Petro said. Friday morning post Social platform X.
“Wealth is produced only by workers,” he added.
Petro said that the Colombian Social Prosperity Bureau is aiming to give a loan to the returnees registered in the program.
“Let's build social wealth in Colombia,” he wrote.
President and his government were engaged in fierce struggles last weekend about immigration and trade.
Petro initially stated that US airplanes carrying Colombian immigrants could not land in the country.
President Trump has reported that the government officials and their families can travel to the United States and threaten Colombian products to impose 25 % tariffs.
Similarly, Peter said that Colombia would publish a 25 % tariff on the product.
This situation was provisionally resolved on Sunday night. Karoline Leavitt, the director of the White House's press, confirmed in a statement that both sides agreed, and Colombia said, “All illegal foreigners in Colombia have returned from the United States, including US aircraft.”
Since then, Colombian airplanes have arrived in Bogota with immigrants who have said that Petro is not a “criminal.”
“Our brothers are from free and dignified United States without being handcuffed. We are building a productive, associated and inexpensive credit plan for immigrants.” He said.
Earlier this week, Bogota's US embassy has closed his visa appointment for Colombians seeking entry into the United States, “the Colombian government has refused to accept the Colombian people.”
