Colorado mom of five goes viral for pinning down man who allegedly recorded her disrobing in store dressing room

According to a social media post, the mother of five was undressing in a changing room when she noticed the man, identified as Tom, spying on her and took matters into her own hands.

Michelle Chandler told KDVR-TV She was shopping at the Nordstrom department store in Lakewood on Saturday when she noticed something creepy in the fitting room.

She said she was trying on something for Mother’s Day when she smelled someone’s feet in the fitting room.

“When I went to take off his pants, I bent over and saw his men’s shoes, socks and his cell phone pointed at me,” Chandler recalled.

“This is why men should not enter women’s fitting rooms.”

She said the store’s fitting room is open to both men and women.

Without waiting for police or security personnel, Chandler grabbed the man and pinned him to the ground.

“I grabbed him, threw him to the ground, put my knee in his back and pinned his head down,” she explained.

Store employees rushed to her aid and held her until police arrived.

“You have to take responsibility,” she said. “What he did was not good.”

She posted a video on her instagram account Several men helped subdue the man who was struggling with them all. In one photo, she is seen sitting on top of him, holding him down. She also said she was restrained using a belt.

“Thanks to our gender-neutral fitting rooms, this man was able to film me trying on clothes,” Chandler wrote in the post.

She went on to press charges and said the man was in possession of a knife during the altercation. Chandler said the man was 19 years old.

The Instagram post received more than 9,500 likes.

KDVR said a spokesperson for the Lakewood Police Department confirmed that they responded to a call similar to Chandler’s claims.

She also connected the incident to the national debate over whether transgender people who identify as women should be allowed in women’s restrooms, sports teams, and fitting rooms.

“This is why men should not enter women’s fitting rooms,” she said in the video.

“I couldn’t agree more,” the man replied.

Lakewood is a suburb of Denver with a population of approximately 155,000 people.
