A Colorado woman who survived the Columbine High School shooting more than 25 years ago passed away following her battle with cancer.
According to the GoFundme page and her obituary, 40-year-old Carissaland, known on March 3 for “service of her resilience, courage, devotion and service to God,” succumbed to colorectal cancer on March 3.
“Calissa was a Columbine shooting survivor and widow of war, fighting Stage 4 cancer for ten years and was the greatest encouragement that most of us know. The mission of service to the people declared God's hope despite pain and suffering, and declared light despite the darkness. This legacy has changed the corner of the world.
“Doug served her illness to selfless and unwavering Carissa during the day and during the day,” the statement added. “He was kind, cared carefully and carefully for every need, noticed the small details, and knew how she wanted/liked things.”

Westminster's Carissa Rand said on her website that she was 11 when her mother died of breast cancer and survived the Columbine High School shooting at age 14.
“When I was 20, when my husband and high school boyfriend were killed in action in Iraq, I became a widow of war,” she added.
According to media reports, Rand was later engaged to Doug Rand, a brother to Greg Rand, the brother of her late husband, Greg Rand.
Rand said he was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer at age 31.
“I endured nine surgeries, an immeasurable amount of suffering and pain, and two years of chemotherapy, and that part of my journey hasn't finished,” she wrote on her website.

“She medically retired when she couldn’t keep up with the harshness of career civil servants and started a nonprofit organization to support, inspiration and doula for all.

“Calissa was God's lasting servant,” the obituary added. “She was a force of friendship in this world, an avid adventurer, and was mean in the victory of all those around her.”
