Tragic Drowning Incident at Florida Beach
A young man with a family, 31-year-old William “Stone” Romberg, tragically drowned at Carillon Beach in Florida on Sunday while attempting to save a seagull that had become entangled in his fishing line.
Romberg swam out to rescue the bird, but his fishing hook got caught on his hand. As he struggled to return to shore, he was caught in a strong current that pulled him further away, ultimately leading to his drowning.
Witnesses, including friends who were present, reported that they saw him swimming towards the bird, but then he vanished in the water. Shortly after, he was found entangled in the fishing line, according to reports.
Efforts to revive him included CPR from his friends at the scene.
Romberg was a beach service manager for La Dolce Vita rentals. The company expressed its grief over his passing through a heartfelt social media post, reflecting on his kind nature and his readiness to lend a helping hand.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the devastating loss of our friend and coworker, William ‘Stone’ Romberg. Stone was a valued part of our LDV family, remembered for his kind heart, hard work, and willingness to always lend a hand.
Stone tragically lost his life while fishing at the beach and attempting to help a bird caught in his fishing line. His kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.
Our hearts are especially with his wife, Taylor, and their two little girls, Hadley and Lainey, during this unimaginable time.
In a further demonstration of community support, a GoFundMe created to assist his family had raised over $200,000 by Thursday morning. The page highlighted the challenges ahead for Taylor and their daughters, emphasizing that while financial assistance wouldn’t diminish their loss, it would help relieve immediate burdens during this difficult period.
The GoFundMe page urged people to consider donating and keeping Stone’s family in their thoughts, suggesting that every contribution would be significant as they navigate this overwhelming tragedy.
