Nick Shirley Seeks Security Funding Following Threats
Nick Shirley, a conservative influencer and citizen journalist, has made headlines for his investigations into alleged misconduct within Minnesota’s Somali community. Recently, he’s claimed to have faced threats from the left, prompting him to seek donations for personal security.
Shirley, who has transitioned to California, asserts he has uncovered over $170 million in fraudulent funding related to taxpayer-supported child care and health programs. His trouble began after a video about a Somali-operated child care center in Minneapolis went viral last year. Since then, he reports facing backlash and threats, particularly when he’s out filming in different locations.
“After my recent post on X, it’s become clear that I need to raise funds for security,” he stated. During an appearance on Kayley McEnany’s show, he encouraged his followers to support his online fundraising efforts.
“People are actively trying to track my movements,” he told McEnany on Fox News, explaining how he has faced harassment from left-wing activists who document his presence and share it on platforms like Reddit. He recalled an incident in Baltimore and mentioned another confrontation in California just this past weekend.
“They’re essentially saying things like, ‘Get rid of Nick Shirley,'” he explained.
Shirley noted that while he had security in Minnesota, the funding for those measures was nearly exhausted. “The last video I filmed about hospice scams cost $15,000 because we needed private security for three days,” he said. “So we decided to ask our viewers for help with those costs.”
He specifically requested donations to the Blackline Guardian Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to providing security for schools, community leaders, and families facing targeting. The fund’s mission is to offer comprehensive protective services and emergency resources, regardless of financial capability.
“In the past, it was possible to record these videos without needing security,” Shirley remarked.
