House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has indicated that Congress might call on former President Barack Obama, alleging that he collaborated with the American intelligence community to falsely connect President Donald Trump to Russia during the 2016 election.
Johnson shared with reporter David Brody that he is contemplating a subpoena for Obama.
“I believe we have a duty to pursue the truth,” Johnson stated. “It’s important we do the opposite of what other groups have done—those who were caught up in politically motivated schemes to undermine their opponents. We need to restore order to the rule of law and seek answers, as Americans deserve that.”
On the matter of Obama, Johnson mentioned, “If it made him uncomfortable, he shouldn’t have been involved in overseeing this.”
National Intelligence Director Tarsi Gabbard recently claimed that evidence indicates Obama conspired with the Intelligence Reporting Agency, linking Trump’s election to Russia by mistake.
Gabbard stated, “In 2016, a disturbing conspiracy was executed by officials at the highest levels of government.”
“Their aim was to undermine the will of the American public and effectively stage a coup.”
Gabbard went on to accuse the Obama administration of committing a “serious abuse of power” that “threatens the integrity of our Democratic Republic.” She alleged that Obama and his security team created a politicized intelligence agency, fabricating claims that Russia had swayed the 2016 election in Trump’s favor over Hillary Clinton.
“This situation is frankly historic. The release of over 100 documents last Friday reveals how this troubling plot was orchestrated by Obama shortly before Trump assumed office after his election,” she added. “This isn’t merely a Democrat or Republican issue; it concerns the integrity of our Democratic Republic, making it significant for all Americans.”
