Congressman warns that Americans are in danger 'anywhere' following his mother's killing

Lawmakers in South Carolina have raised concerns about the risks faced by citizens after four years of relaxed border policies, highlighting the recent tragic murders of two mothers in Lancaster. Authorities have charged six illegal immigrants, aged between 13 and 21, with the murder of Larisha Thompson, who was shot while driving to meet a friend in Rock Hill on May 2.

Republican Representative Ralph Norman expressed his sorrow during a phone interview, noting that Thompson’s two children now have no mother. “It can happen anytime, anywhere. That’s just the sad reality we’re seeing all over the nation,” he stated.

Norman pointed out that Laken Reilly, a student killed by an illegal immigrant earlier this year, has come to symbolize the crime problem associated with undocumented individuals in the U.S. He mentioned that Thompson’s death is part of a broader pattern of violence affecting various communities. The names of other casualties included in his remarks seemed a bit jumbled but underscored the issue’s severity.

Norman went on to criticize the current border policies, saying, “You wouldn’t leave your doors open in your home. It’s perplexing why Democrats haven’t pointed fingers at Joe Biden for this intentional laxity.” He sounded hopeful, albeit cautiously, that things might improve in the future.

Thompson, 40, was discovered shot behind the wheel of her vehicle on Riverside Road in Lancaster. Norman stressed that while South Carolina is a fantastic place to live, residents need to remain vigilant due to the lingering threats.

In the aftermath of the investigation, authorities revealed that three adults had been arrested, with names like Asael Aminadas Torres Kirinos and Jerby Ardon Ramos Ordali, among them. Norman expressed a desire for the death penalty to be pursued against one of the adult suspects involved in Thompson’s murder.

He conveyed the community’s fear: “The unknown is what we truly worry about,” especially concerning the potential for more individuals with bad intentions to have crossed over during the last administration. “We don’t know who is here, and I think that’s a serious issue,” he added, questioning the meaninglessness of such tragic deaths.

Notably, Sheriff Barry Ferrue stated that Thompson’s murder highlighted a troubling disregard for societal norms. “There is no place for these types of actions in our community. My hope is that those responsible will never see the light of day again,” he asserted at a press conference.

As part of the ongoing investigation, the sheriff’s office noted that all six individuals involved would face deportation due to their immigration status. Meanwhile, Thompson’s family continues to grapple with the devastating loss and the circumstances surrounding it.
