Connecticut is the latest state to allow voters to vote early and in person.
Saturday was the last day of early voting in the state ahead of the presidential primary scheduled for Tuesday. This will be the first election in the state to feature early voting.
“This is a historic moment for the state of Connecticut,” said Secretary of State Stephanie Thomas. statement Early this week.
“There are now so many opportunities for people to go out and vote. If there’s a last-minute emergency or childcare issue, you don’t have to worry anymore. You can voice your opinion that day. can.”
That’s not much of a problem, as both President Biden and former President Trump have amassed the necessary number of delegates to become their respective parties’ presumptive nominees.
Thomas’ office said there were no “major organizational or legal issues” with the new voting option.
Currently, only four states do not allow early voting: Alabama, Delaware, Mississippi, and New Hampshire. These four states have several options for absentee voters.
In this primary election, there is only four days for early voting, but in the general election, voters have 14 days to vote. This comes after voters in 2022 approved a constitutional amendment that both state legislatures passed last year to clarify the text.
