Oklahoma Education Department Partners with Pragel for Teacher Assessment
The Oklahoma Department of Education (OSDE) is collaborating with Pragel, a nonprofit linked to Trump, to create a new assessment for teachers relocating to Oklahoma. This initiative aims to evaluate educators moving from states with more progressive educational policies.
The assessment will focus on three key areas: knowledge of the U.S. Constitution, an understanding of what is termed “American exceptionalism,” and awareness of basic biological differences between genders. The intention behind this is to align with OSDE’s mission for an education rooted in truth, patriotism, and core values, thereby fostering a sense of pride in American history among students.
Arizona’s Similar Initiative with Pragel
Principal Ryan Walters emphasized that Oklahoma aims to distance itself from what he referred to as “woke agendas” found in places like California or New York. He stated, “If you want to teach here, you should know the Constitution and respect what makes America great.” There’s a clear message here: Oklahoma is committed to raising a generation of patriots while minimizing left-wing narratives in classrooms.
While OSDE is still determining which states will be particularly scrutinized—California and New York are mentioned—the exact structure of the assessment is currently under development, expected to be finalized soon. They plan to implement it right after completion.
Marissa Strait, CEO of Pragel, voiced her enthusiasm, saying the assessment is necessary to prevent extreme left ideologies from harming children, asserting that teachers should promote America’s greatness and potential.
Recent Changes to Oklahoma’s Curriculum
Fox News Digital reached out to various Oklahoma teachers’ unions for feedback. The Oklahoma Association of Professional Educators responded but declined to comment since details of the assessment are still vague. Similarly, the Oklahoma branch of the National Association of Educators also refrained from comment.
This move isn’t an isolated instance for Walters. Over the past few months, he has initiated several reforms aimed at reinforcing pro-American education, including new social studies standards intended to bolster citizenship education aligned with “pro-American values.”
Walters has also taken steps to address professional misconduct within education, such as banning continued education for educators guilty of serious infractions and working to tackle anti-Semitism, among other issues.
