Omar Critiques Conservative Reactions to Kirk’s Assassination

Rep. Ilhan Omar, a member of the Democratic “squad,” has voiced her criticisms regarding conservative responses to the assassination of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, who was killed on Wednesday.

During an interview with former MSNBC anchor Mehdi Hasan, Omar expressed her distaste for conservatives framing political violence as solely a leftist concern, describing such views as “disgusting” and “full of shit.”

She remarked, “These individuals act like adults, but when it comes to showing compassion, they often behave as if they view children as inferior.”

Omar further challenged allegations that the assassin was a “left-wing madman.” She pointed out that the person making these claims doesn’t even know the identity of the perpetrator. “Charlie was known for saying ‘save the gun’ after a school shooting,” she added.

She also spoke to the racial undertones in the discussion, asserting that Kirk was someone who prioritized debates over acknowledging the struggles faced by Black individuals in America, citing the death of George Floyd as a key example.

She continued, “For the last decade, his words and actions have been overlooked, as if they don’t exist. Individuals like Nancy Mace target those they deem inferior, trying to erase them. People like Trump have fueled violence against individuals like me. It’s vital we call them out. Despite feeling anger and sadness, we also should not wish for Charlie’s existence to be negated based on a ‘newly created word’ or whatever. I do empathize with his family, particularly his children and wife. I wouldn’t want that pain for my own family, so I understand their grief.”

Kirk was shot at a lecture event in what has been labeled a political assassination at Utah Valley University, as reported by Breitbart News.

On Friday, it was revealed that the suspected shooter, identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, is now in custody.

While many people across the nation and globally are mourning Kirk’s death, some leftist groups appear to celebrate the event.

In the wake of the tragedy, former President Donald Trump announced plans to honor Kirk as a champion of free speech.
