Conservatives criticize Weingarten's 'No Kings Day' remarks as she leaves the DNC.

Chafrandy Weingarten, leader of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), faced backlash from conservatives online following a speech she made at the “No Kings Day” event. During her address, she targeted former President Donald Trump shortly after stepping away from the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

A conservative social media account, Libs in Tiktok, criticized Weingarten’s animated performance at the protest held in Philadelphia, sharing clips that made it seem like she was endorsing homeschooling.

Weingarten’s remarks generated significant attention, particularly as news spread about her rejection of an offer to remain with the DNC. Reports stated that Lee Saunders, a prominent figure in the United States Federation, also declined the DNC’s proposal. Their exits followed former vice-chairman David Hogg’s departure earlier in June.

In a speech, Weingarten expressed dissatisfaction with DNC leadership, saying they seemed out of touch. This drew criticism from various quarters, with some accusing her leadership of causing problems for the educational system and reigniting footage of her more spirited moments denouncing Trump.

“You are the essence of this chaotic administration, and we are working towards a future filled with opportunities for everyone,” she declared, emphasizing her belief in fighting for the promises America should uphold.

While some labeled her speech as a “meltdown,” others recounted her controversial tenure during school closures prompted by the pandemic. One commenter pointed out the Democratic Party’s struggle, noting it had lost backing from a major teachers’ union under Weingarten’s leadership. Another critic described Weingarten as having devastated American education while locking down classrooms.

As the “No Kings Day” protests unfolded—coinciding with a military parade in Washington, DC—there were reports of unrest and violence in various cities, including Los Angeles and Portland. Law enforcement faced significant challenges, resorting to tear gas and other measures to control the crowds after confrontations escalated.

The protests, advocating for public schools and community support, highlighted existing divisions within the Democratic Party. Attempts to engage in such demonstrations came as a result of Weingarten’s efforts to rally Trump critics to raise their voices.

Fox News Digital sought comments from AFT and Weingarten regarding the reactions to her departure and the criticism, but there was no immediate response.
