A video of a Utah police officer jumping in and tackling an escaped pig has gone viral.
Police in Grantsville, about 30 miles southwest of Salt Lake City, received multiple complaints last week about three piglets that wreaked havoc in a neighborhood after escaping. Fox13 reported.
Officer Cory Cooper told the magazine that the pigs were “running around town, going into people’s yards, going through their yards, going through animal farms and things like that.”
Cooper and several other police officers responded to a report of the sighting this week and tried to bring down the elusive animal, which caused a huge uproar.
video released by the department The “Benny Hill” theme appeared to be playing in the background while Cooper was depicted chasing a slippery pig across his front lawn.
Cooper set him off a few times in the driveway when he dove and tackled a pig in a last-ditch effort as the camerawoman laughed. He then walked away with the detained suspect in his arms screaming, the footage shows.
Cooper said he has chased pigs in his life and this time was no exception.
“It’s kind of an all-out war, because obviously when you’re dealing with an animal that has a mind of its own, you can’t communicate… Their instinct is to fight or flight, and most of the time they I run away.’ It’s pretty fast,” he told Fox 13.
Cooper suffered some scrapes during the takedown, but said he was otherwise okay.
Police said all the pigs were captured and will be rescued because their owners did not come forward.
