Thanksgiving dinner will cost 24 percent more this year than it did before Joe Biden took office.
According to the American Farm Bureau Federation's annual survey, the average cost of a dinner for 10 people, which includes 12 traditional dishes such as turkey, stuffing, cranberries and pumpkin pie mix, is $58.05. That's up from $46.90 on the last Thanksgiving of President Donald Trump's first term.
The price of a 16-pound turkey this year averaged $25.67, a 32% increase over Thanksgiving 2020, before Bidenflation.
“After years of soaring retail prices, consumers are receiving much-needed relief, but the cost of these grocery bills is no longer a tough conversation to have at the dinner table for farm and ranch families. “The U.S. Farm Bureau said.
According to the Farm Bureau, many prices are actually a little lower than last year. The overall price of a holiday feast for 10 people will be reduced by 5%. But even that price drop is not enough to relieve the economic strain caused by years of runaway prices.
“Consumers have been exhausted by years of inflation, and it will take more time to ease the pain than the improvements of the past two years,” the Agriculture Department said.
Below is a list of products whose prices have increased during the Biden presidency.
- Pumpkin pie mix: 22.4% increase.
- Milk, 1 gallon: 4.2% increase.
- Carrots and celery: 15% increase.
- Roll: 56.4% increase.
- Pyshell: 40% increase.
- Greenpeace: 18.5% increase.
- Whipped cream: 4% more.
- Cube stuffing: 45.2% increase.
Cranberries and sweet potatoes are the only items on the Farm Bureau's Thanksgiving feast menu whose prices haven't increased in the last four years. However, the price of cranberries has increased this year compared to last year, and so have the prices of dinner rolls, stuffing and whipped cream. Prices for turkey, sweet potatoes, frozen peas, carrot and celery vegetable trays, pumpkin pie mix, puff pastry and whole milk are lower than last year.
President Biden may have pardoned the White House turkey this year, but American families are still suffering the harsh punishment of Bidenflation.
