Costco is in the process of switching from Pepsi to Coca-Cola beverages at its food courts, a change that began rolling out in early July. According to a statement from the Coca-Cola Company to Fox Business, all Costco locations are set to feature Coca-Cola products by this fall.
This announcement comes amid President Donald Trump’s suggestion in the Truth Society that Coca-Cola will transition to using sugar instead of high-fructose corn syrup. However, Coca-Cola hasn’t confirmed or denied these assertions.
The move to Coca-Cola may not be shocking to members, as Costco CEO Ron Vachris indicated back in January that the food court would make this switch over the summer. Still, it marks a significant shift for the Costco food courts, which have exclusively offered Pepsi since 2013.
Buzz is growing among Costco employees and Coca-Cola fans about this change across 14 countries, allowing Costco patrons to enjoy the familiar drinks alongside the food court’s popular offerings, as noted in Coca-Cola’s communication to Fox Business.
On social media platforms like Reddit, users have started sharing images showcasing Coca-Cola cups at Costco, highlighting the updated visuals of the popular hot dog and soda deal.
This change is part of a broader range of services that Costco offers, including gas stations, optical services, hearing aids, and tire installation, all of which entice members to visit frequently.
As of Wednesday, Costco operates a global network of 908 warehouses, with 625 located in the United States. Vachris expressed expectations to reach 914 sites worldwide by the fiscal year’s end during a revenue call in late May.
Looking ahead, the retailer plans to open seven new locations in Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. by August. Furthermore, Costco is scheduled to release its fourth-quarter financial results by the end of September.
