One of the newest foods welcoming Arizona Cardinals fans to State Farm Stadium this season is something that will no doubt cause headaches for dentists: cotton candy burritos.

Sean Kavanaugh, executive chef of Craft Culinary Creations, told Fox News Digital that the creation was inspired by a similar creation he found in Las Vegas.

“I wish I could say I invented it, but I saw it in an ice cream shop in Las Vegas,” he said in a phone interview.

Kansas City is home to the best barbecue in America, the chef claims, and “our diversity is what makes us unique.”

The Arizona Cardinals said in a statement that the sugary product – a mix of cotton candy, ice cream, candy and cereal – is designed to “meet the needs of today's fans” and is part of the team's other new products. (See the video at the beginning of this article.)

Cardinals describes the product as “cotton candy flavored ice cream topped with Fruity Pebbles, Fruit Loops, marshmallows, Skittles, mini M&Ms, gummy bears and sprinkles, all encased in a melt-in-your-mouth cotton candy shell.”

“It's just candy and cereal and ice cream rolls,” Kavanaugh said.

A video shared with Fox News Digital shows employees hollowing out the cotton candy balls and then filling them with more cotton candy, ice cream, cereal and candy.

News that the Arizona Cardinals would be selling burritos with cotton candy instead of tortillas and ice cream instead of rice spread online shortly after the team's media day, leading to a change of plans for where the merchandise would be sold.

Initially, the cotton candy burritos were only going to be sold at the club level of State Farm Stadium, Kavanaugh said.

After the product became a hot topic online, the situation changed dramatically.

“We are a portable [food stand] “We're now offering it in the main concourse and the upper concourse,” he said, “which means it's available on all levels.”

So far, Kavanaugh said the response to the cotton candy burritos has been positive since the NFL preseason ended.

“everyone [who has] People who have ordered them are excited and love them,” Kavanaugh said.

“Just looking at it makes my teeth itch.”

He said the post has received mixed reactions online, and he found it “funny and very strange at the same time.”

On Reddit, images of the burrito were widely shared across the website, including food and sports-related pages, sparking a variety of humorous responses.

“This would be a nightmare but embarrassingly enough I'd love to try it,” admitted user “mrb4.”

Kavanaugh told Fox News Digital that it's possible to eat a cotton candy burrito like a regular burrito made with a tortilla, but “it depends on how messy you want to make it.”

Kavanaugh noted that the product is “definitely shareable” and that “by the time they start rolling it out, it's pretty big.”

But above all else, Kavanaugh stressed that the cotton candy burrito is “fun,” from its concept, its creation, to the online reaction to it.
