Mourning the Passing of His Father

Country music artist Zach Jon King is grieving the unexpected death of his father. On Tuesday, the 29-year-old shared the heartbreaking news through a post on Instagram.

“On Friday, my father suddenly returned to Jesus’ home,” he wrote, pairing the message with several photos of them together. “He was the rock of our family, my best friend—the greatest man I will ever know. John King was an extraordinary husband, father, grandfather, friend, and a devoted follower of Jesus. It was, frankly, frustrating how he found joy even during his toughest times. He always said that joy came from ‘the hope he had in Jesus.’”

Continuing, he added, “Literally in the blink of an eye, he went home to Jesus, the place his soul had awaited. Of course, we would have wanted him around for another 25 years. The pain of losing him will leave a mark on my heart forever. But if there’s any assurance I can find, it’s knowing he’s in that place we all long for.”

To allow himself time to grieve with family, King announced he will be canceling his performances for the next two weeks. “After that, I’ll honor my father’s memory by getting back to work. He used to say every morning, even when I didn’t feel like hearing it: ‘Today is the day the Lord has appointed, and I will rejoice and be glad in it.’”

As news spread, friends and fans offered their condolences. “Zach, I’m so sorry… I’m praying for you and your family,” said fellow musician Ella Langley.

Christian songwriter Brandon Lake chimed in with, “What a beautiful thing to say about your dad. He left a legacy.”

This summer, King has toured alongside artists like Morgan Wallen, Luke Bryan, and Thomas Rhett, and is set to headline the upcoming Get to Drinkin’ Tour this fall.

In other news, it’s not uncommon for artists to cancel performances due to personal matters. Last year, country star Cody Johnson halted all remaining tour dates after he developed a ruptured eardrum requiring emergency surgery.

Johnson shared the news in an Instagram statement, expressing gratitude for the support he received from fans. “Healing will take many weeks, and I won’t be able to sing during that time,” he reflected, hoping for a full recovery so he could return to his passion.
