Colt Ford doesn’t remember anything about the April night he suffered a heart attack after a performance in Phoenix, Arizona.
In an interview with Big D & Bubba, the country musician detailed what he remembered about the “traumatic and crazy experience” and revealed that he died twice before arriving at the hospital. .
“I didn’t even remember coming here to play a show in Phoenix. Apparently we sold out this amazing show and it was incredible,” Ford said in a phone interview. Ta. “I got back on the bus, texted my girlfriend’s fiancé, ‘Hello, baby,’ and collapsed and died.
“I died twice. Luckily my band came to check on me. …Suddenly all hell broke loose.”
Mr. Ford, 54, recently performed a show at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row in Gilbert, Arizona, his representative said in a statement provided to FOX News Digital at the time.
At one point, he was in “stable but critical condition in the ICU.”
After sending an email to his fiancée, he admitted: “I don’t remember anything.”
Mr Ford was told he would be transferred to another hospital that could provide better care and “died” on the way there, but doctors “brought me back and saved my life.”
“The Lord wanted me to do more, make more music, and hopefully make more of a difference in some people’s lives,” he said.
After he woke up two days later, doctors told him the harsh truth that they believed he had a chance of survival.
Mr. Ford, whose full name is Jason Farris Brown, said his doctor told him, “I wouldn’t have given him 1%. If he had given him 0.1%, he would have survived.”
“I had to have three stents put in because I was so traumatized physically and mentally,” Ford said. “A lot of things happened and then all of a sudden my gallbladder ruptured.”
Despite the traumatic event, the “Slow Ride” singer is grateful for the chance to experience life again.
“The overwhelming support and love I felt…I get emotional talking about it. I’ve been emotionally devastated since I’ve been here,” he said.
“My life has changed. It’s changed mentally. It’s obviously changed physically. It’s just been crazy. …I’m not completely out of the woods yet. I feel better about myself. You have to learn how to be a little selfish for a while until you become.
“This has changed my perspective and outlook on many things. Live every day like it’s your last because it will happen someday.”
Ford also said he is now making the most of his health.
“We’re going to try to come back bigger, stronger and better than ever,” he said.
