California Family Seeks Answers After Truck Crash
A father in California claims Governor Gavin Newsom has overlooked his desperate requests for answers regarding an incident involving an illegal immigrant truck driver. This accident left his young daughter with life-altering injuries.
Marcus Coleman expressed his frustration, stating, “We never heard anything from the governor—no callbacks, nothing indicating even that he would consider this.” His daughter, Darilla Coleman, was just five years old during the crash in Southern California last year, where a semi-truck didn’t stop, leading to a multi-vehicle collision. Darilla was airlifted to a Children’s Hospital and remained there for over a month, with some reports indicating she was in a coma.
Her mother, Ileana Klaus, noted, “She has a traumatic brain injury. Currently, she’s diagnosed with cerebral palsy and global developmental delays. She cannot walk and is fed through a G-tube.”
The truck driver involved, identified as Partap Singh, was later arrested. Authorities allege he was driving unsafely and failed to stop in a construction zone, despite having been issued a commercial driver’s license in California.
Earlier incidents related to illegal immigration have seen similar consequences. For instance, another individual, Harjinder Singh, faces charges for a fatal crash in Florida, having obtained his commercial driving licenses in both Washington and California.
Homeland Security Secretary Christi Noem urged preventative measures to avoid such tragedies in the future. She condemned the situation, remarking, “Darilla Coleman’s life was forever changed by an illegal immigrant driving a truck. This tragedy was completely preventable.”
Secretary Noem called for accountability, questioning how many more lives must be affected before action is taken. Coleman and Klaus are seeking answers, with Klaus reflecting, “She didn’t deserve this. She was a very sweet girl, and you could still see her light shining.” They miss the girl she used to be.
A spokesperson for Governor Newsom’s office stated that the responsibility for the crash falls with the federal government, not the state, and expressed condolences to the Coleman family, criticized the politicization of the tragedy.
