Influencer Deported After Filming ICE Raids

An undocumented social media influencer, renowned for sharing videos about ICE raids in California, was deported back to Colombia last week. Tatiana Mafra Martinez, age 24, was apprehended in August for driving under the influence and for her immigration status, as reported by ICE.

The Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security approved her deportation. Martinez, known on TikTok as tatianamartinez_02, had garnered over 48,000 followers. Her content included personal details and alerts for her followers regarding ICE activities in Los Angeles and elsewhere in California.

Following her arrest on August 15, while she was live-streaming, footage of the incident spread rapidly on social media. In the video, she is seen shouting at ICE officials from her Tesla.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin commented on the situation, noting Martinez’s previous conviction for drunk driving in Los Angeles. She mentioned that Martinez had entered the country in 2022 and was reportedly released by the Biden administration.

During the arrest, a tow truck driver, also undocumented, was detained for allegedly towing the ICE vehicle used in the operation. This incident added a layer of chaos to the situation, according to McLaughlin.

Bobby Nunez, the identified suspect involved in the towing of the ICE vehicle, was arrested in early September and faces charges for theft of government property. If found guilty, he could face up to a decade in prison.

Martinez’s deportation case was handled by immigration attorney Carlos Jurado, who expressed concerns that she was specifically targeted due to her online presence. He suggested that the filming of ICE operations might have attracted attention to her situation.

Martinez was held in an ICE facility in Southern California until her deportation last week.
