Cruz supports Charlie Kirk after Tucker Carlson's criticism of Israel

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) recently addressed comments made by conservative commentator Tucker Carlson regarding Charlie Kirk, a late conservative activist known for his critical views on Israel.

“I’m really getting fed up with Tucker and his associates for their misunderstandings,” Cruz expressed. He suggested that Carlson misses the nuances of what others are trying to say.

Cruz reminisced about his last conversation with Kirk, emphasizing Kirk’s deep concern about the increasing anti-Semitism within conservative circles and the troubling waves of negativity surrounding it.

This response came after Carlson remarked that Kirk “didn’t have a favorable view of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,” labeling him as “a very destructive force.” Kirk had reportedly reiterated this sentiment multiple times.

Carlson went further to say that Kirk was too dependent on his donors, asserting that some of Kirk’s pro-Israel supporters “stood by him until the end.”

The Anti-Defamation League, which combats anti-Semitism, indicated that following Kirk’s passing, there was a noticeable surge in anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, particularly among those attempting to take advantage of the ensuing chaos and confusion.

In response to conspiracy theories suggesting that far-right individuals, including Candice Owens, were involved in Kirk’s death, Netanyahu labeled those claims as “false” and “disgusting.” He took the opportunity to praise Kirk in a video, highlighting him as a staunch advocate for Israel.

“This is absolutely wrong and outrageous,” Netanyahu stated. “Charlie Kirk was a remarkable individual, a once-in-a-century talent who championed freedom, America, and our shared Christian heritage. He had a profound love for Israel and the Jewish people.”

Netanyahu also recalled receiving a letter from Kirk a few months prior, in which Kirk expressed that one of his greatest joys as a Christian was defending Israel and uniting with Jews to safeguard their shared civilization.

The prime minister noted that Kirk had urged him to communicate clearly with the American public about Israel’s critical role in U.S. national security.

Vice President JD Vance addressed his “political friends” on Wednesday, acknowledging the feelings of those who believed their words were misrepresented in light of Kirk’s legacy. He advised against heated disputes for the time being.

“Many people admired Charlie. It’s understandable for them to reflect on his views and legacy. I genuinely think Charlie would have embraced that discussion,” Vance shared on social media.

Cruz and Carlson have previously had their disagreements. Their tensions flared again over U.S. drone strikes related to Iran, signifying a strained relationship amidst broader political discourse.
