Cruz vows to make anti-illegal immigration push at GOP convention after child murdered: ‘Speaking for Jocelyn’

ExclusiveSenator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), In his speech at the Republican National Convention, Trump is expected to call for tougher border enforcement and fewer migrant releases in the wake of the death of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nangaray in Texas last month, highlighting the high number of deaths he has blamed on illegal immigration.

“Tomorrow I’m going to speak for Jocelyn, and I’m going to speak for Lincoln Riley, and I’m going to speak for Rachel Morin and others whose lives have been needlessly taken by illegal immigrants who have been released by Joe Biden and the Democrats,” he said in an interview on Fox News Digital.

Two undocumented immigrants, Johan Jose Rangel Martinez, 21, and Franklin Jose Peña Ramos, 26, are facing murder charges in the death of 12-year-old Nungaray in Houston after they allegedly lured her under a bridge, tied her up, killed her and then dumped her body in the river.

Authorities confirmed they were in the country illegally. Martinez was arrested by the Border Patrol in March, and Peña in May. Both were released on bail pending their immigration court hearings.

“If Joe Biden and the Democrats had followed the law and put them on a plane and brought them home, Jocelyn Nangaray would still be alive,” Cruz said. “Jocelyn was a beautiful 12-year-old girl who loved animals and dreamed of being an actress.”

“This is happening over and over again every single day. We see people being killed, children being raped, women being assaulted by illegal immigrants. [President] “It’s Joe Biden and the Democrats’ fault,” he said, calling Nungarei’s death “totally preventable.”

Cruz, along with Republican Rep. Troy Nehls of Texas, introduced the “Justice for Joslyn” Act, which would require all Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility beds to be filled before releasing illegal immigrants into the interior. Even if the beds are full, the bill would require the Department of Homeland Security to take any additional steps before releasing immigrants into the interior.

The bill has the support of Nungaray’s mother, Alexis.

“After much grief, Jocelyn has given me the strength to be her voice and demand justice. Senator Ted Cruz’s Justice for Jocelyn Act would have prevented Jocelyn’s death,” she said. “This bill would have kept her two killers off the streets and would have meant that Jocelyn would be here with us today. For the safety of children across the nation, I urge everyone to support Senator Cruz’s Justice for Jocelyn Act.”

Senator Cruz said the border crisis and the impact of the so-called “open borders” policy on American communities will be a central theme of his speech at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday.

“I maintain that this is cruel, this is evil, this is wrong. Real people are being hurt, they are suffering, they are dying. This must stop. And it will stop. And the way it will stop is if Donald Trump is re-elected president.”

In the interview, he also addressed the attempted assassination of former President Trump, joining calls for emergency hearings and the resignation of senior administration officials.

“None of these decisions are excusable, and the results have been completely disastrous,” he said.

He praised Trump’s response to the incident as “remarkable and inspiring” and blamed left-wing rhetoric for inciting such behavior.

“I believe Saturday’s assassination attempt is a direct result of years of hateful, fiery rhetoric, angry rhetoric and calls to violence from Democrat politicians and the corporate media,” he said. “After a decade of them calling Donald Trump Adolf Hitler, the devil and a threat to American democracy, a desperately angry and confused people are taking that as a call to action.”
