Cuban Delegation Leaves UN Assembly During Trump’s Speech

During the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Cuban delegation exited abruptly while President Donald Trump was speaking.

As Trump criticized the communist regime in Cuba, representatives from the island nation made their swift departure from the assembly hall.

Trump remarked, “My administration is also seeking a fundamental change in the situation in Cuba, where the communist regime is under great pressure – the biggest pressure they’ve ever been under. It’s an absolutely failed state. It’s failing like never before, and it will fall.”

In a light-hearted moment shared on Twitter, an observer noted the walkout, highlighting Trump’s statements labeling Cuba as a “failed state.”

Additionally, Trump mentioned that Secretary of State Marco Rubio, whose family has Cuban roots, is in the midst of significant negotiations with Cuba, suggesting a wait-and-see approach.

The president accused Cuba of working with domestic groups in the U.S. to promote communist ideologies.

Trump stated, “We’ll not allow a haven for foreign adversaries to threaten America on our own doorstep. The Cuban regime has also spent decades coordinating with the leftwing radicals and communist networks here in the United States.”

He continued, “As our State Department has detailed, they’ve cultivated ties to subversive and radical groups such as the Communist Party USA, Antifa, and the Democratic Socialists of America.”

Trump concluded with a strong assertion: “Communism will never be coming to America, but freedom will be coming to Cuba.”

The Cuban representatives chose to leave the room amidst Trump’s escalating criticisms.

Senator Rubio had recently expressed strong disapproval of the Cuban regime, labeling it a “corrupt failed state” as the U.S. continues to impose diplomatic sanctions and pressure on Cuba.
