Jets Face Offseason Decisions on Breece Hall
The Jets have a lot on their plate this offseason, especially when it comes to the future of running back Breece Hall, who is going to be a free agent come March.
This past season, Hall surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing milestone for the first time, accumulating 1,065 yards and four touchdowns. At just 24 years old, he certainly shows promise, but the big question is, how much should the team invest in a running back?
General manager Darren Mousey was asked recently if the Jets intend to bring Hall back. He responded, “Brees is a good player. We want as many good players back as possible. We’re going to go through this process and see what happens with free agency.”
He didn’t clarify if the team might consider using a franchise or transition tag to keep Hall on the roster.
Coaching Changes Ahead
Meanwhile, head coach Aaron Glenn is in the market for a new defensive coordinator after parting ways with Steve Wilkes last month. Glenn mentioned that he plans to finish roster meetings soon, assess the current coaching staff, and then initiate the search for a new coordinator.
When asked about what he looks for in a coordinator, Glenn shared, “I like to be aggressive. I want to ensure there’s a lot of synergy between me and that coach, regardless of the opponent.” He emphasized that while he’s not implying there was a lack of synergy with Wilkes, he wants to make that a priority moving forward.
According to Glenn, this synergy extends beyond tactical planning; it’s about building relationships too. “It involves personal factors. How the defense is performing and overall compatibility are significant,” he explained. “I want to be aligned in how we see the game, to share the same atmosphere when discussing our approach to football.”
