Recently, an alarming situation unfolded involving Queens-born singer D4VD, whose Texas family residence was targeted by police following a prank call known as “swatting.” This occurred shortly after the discovery of a dismembered body of a teenage girl in his abandoned Tesla.
David Anthony Burke, better known as D4VD, was on a world tour when authorities found the gruesome remains in the trunk of a Tesla parked in the Hollywood Hills on September 8.
Then, on September 18—just a day after police responded to a disturbance at Burke’s Los Angeles home—Texas police rushed to his family’s house in Hampstead. They were responding to reports of a shooting incident that allegedly left at least one person dead.
Surprisingly, when officers arrived, they were met by Burke’s parents, who had a firearm visible. It was, as one might expect, a tense moment.
While Burke’s mother was at the home with her husband and their children, footage revealed that they assured the officers they were safe.
Meanwhile, Burke was preparing for the final leg of his U.S. tour in Los Angeles; however, many performances were canceled amid rising speculation regarding any possible ties to Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a 15-year-old girl whose remains were found in the same Tesla.
Burke’s parents, understandably shaken, expressed concern over a possible break-in, while police indicated they would sweep through their property.
Ultimately, no one else was present during the incident, and it was concluded that this was indeed a “swatting” prank.
Rivas Hernandez had been reported missing in 2024, and her remains were found wrapped in plastic, revealing signs of severe decomposition. Witnesses had alerted authorities to a “foul smell” emanating from the Tesla.
Interestingly, the vehicle had been ticketed just 11 days prior to the discovery of her body, with police estimating she may have been deceased for “several weeks.”
The young girl’s mother mentioned, somewhat distressingly, that Rivas had left home multiple times before, and noted a boyfriend named David, which raised eyebrows regarding Burke.
Notably, Burke had previously written an unreleased song featuring her name, “Celeste,” and shared a music video in February that depicted scenes eerily resembling the situation.
As it stands, Burke has not been named a suspect in the matter. Rivas Hernandez’s remains have been returned to her family, and an official cause of death has not yet been revealed.
Burke, who rose to fame with the hit “Romantic Murder” in 2022, gained traction through TikTok and has since released tracks for popular animated series like “Invincible” and “Arcane.” He also joined SZA as the opening act for her North American tour in 2023.
