It seems the Colts are set to welcome back their starter at quarterback in just a few days.
Daniel Jones recently mentioned that he feels fine after the Achilles tendon tear he sustained in Week 14 against the Jaguars last December, which put an end to his 2025 season.
“I feel good,” Jones shared during an appearance on “Pat McAfee Show” on Monday. “We’re gearing up to start full-team 11-on-11 practice on Wednesday.”
Jones signed a two-year, $88 million contract this offseason to continue with the Colts after a promising start to his first season was cut short.
“I’m in a great place right now,” he commented. “There’s nothing I can’t do. I’m still fine-tuning a few last details, but once I’m back with the team in a month, I’ll be feeling really good. I’ve been doing everything during the 11-on-11 practices and I feel completely back.”
Last season, the Colts kicked off with an impressive 8-2 record, and Jones played a crucial role in their strong beginning.
This past weekend, Jones also took part in the NFL Flag Championship in Indianapolis and expressed his anticipation for training camp. “I feel really good. Excited to start. I’ll report tomorrow and be ready for my first practice on Wednesday,” he noted.
Colts head coach Shane Steichen was also at the championship and praised Jones for his dedication during the offseason.
“He looks fantastic. He’s really committed to his rehab,” Steichen remarked. “He’s been putting in the time at the facility, working from early morning to evening.”
Jones also showed strong performance in 7-on-7 drills during the spring practices and is expected to fully participate in team drills next week. “He’s eager for this and ready to go,” Steichen added.
After a brief period in Minnesota, Jones joined the Colts in March 2025 on a one-year, $14 million contract. Prior to that, he spent six seasons with the Giants, a journey that was nothing if not unpredictable.
