Danny Green Criticizes Spurs’ Decision on Announcer’s Dismissal

Danny Green, a former Spurs champion from the 2014 title-winning team, believes the franchise made a mistake. He expressed his disappointment over the firing of team commentator Jacob Tobey, who faced allegations of an affair with Lauren Waters, the sister of player Lindy Waters III.

Although Tobey’s situation has garnered media attention, Green defended him, stating he’s a “really good guy” and thinks his personal choices shouldn’t have led to his dismissal. “I admire how the Spurs run things,” Green mentioned in a recent podcast. “They maintain a strict environment that doesn’t tolerate nonsense or drama. However, I think this was not a serious enough issue to warrant firing.”

Sports commentator Colin Cowherd also voiced skepticism about the Spurs’ choice to let Tobey go.

Having spent eight years with the Spurs, Green shared his feelings of disappointment regarding the decision. He pointed out, “This isn’t a case of domestic violence. He didn’t harm anyone or engage in reckless behavior. This is his private life.”

The details of Tobey’s personal life hit the spotlight when his ex-girlfriend exposed his alleged affair on social media after taking control of his Instagram account. “This is my girlfriend of six years,” she claimed. “But I cheated on my girlfriend with Lauren Waters. So if you really think I’m a good guy, I’m not, so feel free to keep following me.”

Green mentioned that he wasn’t convinced the Spurs acted justly in this situation. “I’m not sure what led to their decision. I mean, was he actually with this girl, or were they just friends at the time? Who knows?” he pondered.

Additionally, he speculated that Tobey’s ex might have been trying to sabotage him: “She hacked his social media and seemed intent on ruining his life, and now you’re letting that dictate your decisions.”
