Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, has pulled back an offer to send one of the young men who displayed an anti-Semitic sign at his bar to Auschwitz for a “teachable moment.”
Over the weekend, Portnoy expressed his outrage on social media regarding the anti-Semitic incident that occurred at his Philadelphia bar.
Last weekend, a waitress and two customers were seen holding signs that said “F*ck Jews.” When Portnoy became aware of this incident, he expressed a strong desire to confront those responsible, stating he was incredibly upset and determined to take action against them.
“I’ve been shaking. I’m really angry about this,” he told viewers in a video discussing the incident. “This is personal for me—I’m going to make it a priority to ruin their lives. I’m not letting this go.” He emphasized that he wouldn’t tolerate such behavior in his establishment.
As the situation unfolded, he identified one of the individuals involved, Mo Kahn, who initially claimed he was merely acting as a “citizen journalist.” Portnoy later confronted him about the Instagram post that showcased the anti-Semitic sign.
“I told him, ‘I can’t believe you posted this. You think you’re innocent? You’ve engaged in this before,'” Portnoy recounted.
Portnoy initially considered this an opportunity for Kahn to learn and grow, even offering to personally cover the costs to visit Auschwitz, hoping it would lead to a change. However, when Kahn downplayed his involvement, Portnoy felt let down.
“I tried to help you, and this is how you respond? You uploaded that sign, and it was all in good fun?” he expressed frustration, ultimately deciding to withdraw his offer.
