On Sunday, Barstool founder Dave Portnoy saw the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat just one yard away from a lucrative parlay victory.
Portnoy bet $10,000 at DraftKings Sportsbook on a multi-leg parlay that Kenny Pickett would score a touchdown (+425, rushing or receiving) and Jonathan Taylor would score two touchdowns (+280). He was supposed to win $362,900 on the bet. Brian Robinson Jr. scored a touchdown (-115).
After celebrating wildly with the X while making two long shots during the day, that bet went down in heartbreaking fashion in the Commanders' 30-24 win over the Falcons on Sunday Night Football.
Robinson, Washington's leading running back, was on the sideline as reserve Chris Rodriguez Jr. saw some surprising action during the game.
Rodriguez scored on a 2-yard touchdown run, his second of the season, on a particularly long drive that lasted from the third quarter to the fourth.
Still, there was hope late in the fourth quarter when Robinson was given a carry at the 1-yard line and Portnoy knelt to watch, expecting Robinson to get into the end zone.
Robinson was interfered with on the play and lost 1 yard, but a holding call on third down gave the Commanders some help and they eventually made a field goal.
When Rodriguez had five carries for 16 yards and scored Washington's only rushing touchdown, Portnoy said in utter disbelief, “This guy had five king carries all season.” spoke.
“Robinson is perfectly healthy and smiling on the sideline. Give that to this son of a bitch? I want a federal investigation. I want everyone in Washington to investigate. I want them to investigate DraftKings. I want them to investigate Penthouse, Outhouse, Parkhouse, whatever that guy was all season. You basically need Brian Robinson Jr. to score a touchdown for $400 and he's wasting it on the sideline?”
Rodriguez had 30 carries in seven games this season entering Sunday.
The remaining two legs of the parlay available on DraftKings were followed by thousands of Barstool Sports enthusiasts on the app.
Barstool and DraftKings are currently partnering on an eight-figure content deal that will allow him to create content with high stakes and allow fans to follow his bets on the app.
With Eagles starting quarterback Jalen Hurts out with an injury, Pickett was given the opportunity to execute his patented “push-push” and score a goal-line touchdown.
Taylor ran through the Giants' poor run defense like butter, scoring two touchdowns along the way, and had a dominant performance in the loss.
